'SNL' Airs Hilarious Weezer Sketch, Rivers Cuomo Responds

On Saturday night (December 15), Saturday Night Live aired a sketch that was devoted to Weezer.

The skit begins at a Christmas dinner between neighbors. Weezer's cover of Toto's "Africa" begins to play, and Matt Damon is into it. He comments on the song, divulging he's a huge fan. “I think they’re doing some cool things right now,” he admits, mentioning the release date of the "freaking Black Album." But Leslie Jones isn't having it.

“I’m just a little confused because real Weezer fans know they haven’t had a good album since Pinkerton in ’96,” she fires back.

“Uh oh, looks like we have a purist in the house,” Damon claps back.

“Weezer put out two perfect albums, Blue and Pinkerton, and the rest is pretty corny,” Jones says, as the rest of the dinner party looks on in confusion.

“Well, that’s your opinion, but me, I’m ride or die,” Damon proclaims.

The fight escalates to Jones smashing a champagne flute in her hand and trying to get physical with Damon. As he escapes out the front door he references "Beverly Hills."

The following morning, frontman Rivers Cuomo reacted to the sketch with glee. "THEY HAD A WHOLE ASS SKIT ABOUT WEEZER AND ME ON SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE AND IM ACTUALLY CRYING AAAGGGGHHHHHHH," he exclaimed on Twitter.
