Julian Lennon, son of The Beatles' John Lennon, shared a very scary health update with fans: a second cancer scare.

In a post on Instagram, Lennon shared several images from his skin cancer surgery, warning fans of the "disturbing images" he had shared, and along with it, wrote a lengthy message explaining his terrifying experience. He shared, "Before I flew to New York from Los Angeles, I went to see, as I usually do when in LA, my lovely Dermatologist @drtessmauricio - Dr Tess, was the one who caught & operated on My Mole/Skin Cancer, a few years ago, and literally saved my life.

Julian went on to explain that after finishing up an appearance on Good Morning America, he got a disturbing phone call from his doctor, telling him he had to return to Los Angeles after discovering two locations for melanoma on his shoulder and forearm that needed to be operated on immediately. He added, "So instead of going home to put my Christmas tree up and happily finish the year off, relaxing at home, I flew directly back to Los Angeles, after all my work in New York was done, and went directly from LAX airport, to surgery, with a surgeon recommended by Dr Tess, @timneavin - who spent several hours cleaning up and operating on me, with large margins, in the hope that we have, at the end of the day - clear margins, which would mean being free from cancer."

While the operation was a success, Julian shared that the results from the biopsy to confirm the cancer may not be received before Christmas. He then went on to thank his doctors for "once again, hopefully saving my life." Julian finished his note by encouraging everyone to be "checked out by your doctor," in hopes of getting ahead of anything that could be life-threatening. He said, "I love life and I want to live for a very long time and this is one way, and a choice, that could determine your future."
